The work of the Dr. Tyre’ Jenkins Legacy Foundation did not begin with its official name—it began nearly a decade earlier through the heart of a young educator who believed deeply in the power of mentorship, education, and community. In 2016, Dr. Tyre’ Jenkins founded Coaching Kings, Inc., a nonprofit organization created to serve the local community of Franklinton, Louisiana. Grounded in mentorship, academic enrichment, and soul care, Coaching Kings offered young men the guidance, support, and affirmation they needed during some of the most pivotal moments of their lives.
In its earliest years, the organization made a profound impact. Coaching Kings mentored more than 30 youth and young adults, providing individualized support and long-term relationship-building. The organization also awarded over 10 college scholarships and laptops, ensuring that students were not only encouraged to pursue postsecondary education, but equipped to succeed once they arrived. Beyond the academic focus, Coaching Kings became a spiritual and emotional anchor for many—walking alongside young people through their educational, personal, and spiritual journeys.
As life transitions unfolded for the founder and initial staff, Coaching Kings eventually discontinued as a formal organization. But the work never stopped. The mentoring continued. The advocacy continued. The heart for service continued. The commitment to young people remained unwavering.
The Dr. Tyre’ Jenkins Legacy Foundation is the next chapter of that work—rooted in the same principles that guided Coaching Kings, but expanded with a bold, future-oriented vision. While the name has changed, the mission has not. The foundation stands as a continuation and elevation of the original dream: to ensure that youth, especially those from historically marginalized communities, have access to opportunity, mentorship, and transformational pathways that extend far beyond the present moment. This foundation represents Dr. Jenkins’ commitment to leaving a legacy that outlives him—a legacy centered on leadership, equity, and service.
